Welcome to the

Building the Future of Industrial Additive Manufacturing
in Hamburg and Beyond

Happy Birthday, IAMHH e.V.

This month, we celebrate one year of the Industrialized Additive Manufacturing Hub Hamburg e.V., and what a year it has been. We grew from 10 founding members to more than 40 members across industry, research, and technology. Together we hosted two highly constructive member events, strengthened our network, and proudly represented Northern Germany’s AM ecosystem at Formnext.

And this is just the beginning. In 2026 we will continue to grow, strengthen collaboration, and expand our presence at trade shows, starting with Nortec in February. 2025 was still our “first steps” phase, but in 2026 we will hit full stride and showcase what companies in the North and across Germany have to offer in industrial 3D printing.

The Industrialized Additive Manufacturing Hub of Hamburg (IAMHH) e.V.  is the central contact point for companies, research institutions, and innovators looking to accelerate the industrial use of 3D printing. Founded in 2024 by leading industry and research partners, IAMHH e.V. connects the entire additive manufacturing value chain from materials and machines to software and production to drive innovation, competitiveness, and sustainability.

Mission & Vision

We envision a future where additive manufacturing is a core pillar of sustainable, flexible, and competitive industrial production. As a leading hub in Hamburg, we strive to make the region a beacon of excellence for industrial 3D printing, driving global innovation through cooperation, education, and forward-thinking technologies.

At IAMHH e.V., it is our mission to enable the industrial integration of Additive Manufacturing by building an accessible network and advancing the technology through collaborative research.

From Initiative to Association

The IAMHH e.V. initiative began in 2022 as a collaborative effort led by Fraunhofer IAPT alongside partners from government, industry, and academia. After two years of development, strategic discussions, and project planning, IAMHH e.V. was officially founded in July 2024 and became a registered association (e.V.) in November of 2024. Today, IAMHH e.V. is the umbrella organization for a growing ecosystem of companies and institutions committed to advancing additive manufacturing.

How We Create Impact:

Networking & Knowledge Transfer

We connect the AM ecosystem so ideas turn into action. IAMHH e.V. brings together industry, research, and academia through two in-person networking events per year, monthly digital members meetings, and expert webinars. Expect real conversations, site visits, and topical deep dives that surface needs, match partners, and kick-off collaboration.

Fraunhofer IAPT

Collaborative Research

Our member-driven projects tackle concrete challenges in industrial AM. We identify needs through structured Deep Dive sessions, build the right consortium, secure funding, and coordinate execution from concept to implementation. Our first pilot projects focus on recycling (AKROPOLYS), decarbonization and Innovative Quality Assurance.
